Small, handheld machine guns with high rate of fire, but low accuracy.

Summary

Submachine Guns are great close-range weapons that have the accuracy of most Pistols but get the magazine size and fire rate of one of the Assault Rifles. While the aforementioned hit in accuracy can make a lot of these shots null, the ability to put so many bullets out in close range can very quickly overwhelm enemies and negate any positional or equipment benefit they might have.

Update #59 (Season 15 - Update 15.1)

While some players feel that SMGs have a strong position due to their relatively low recoil, we still see in data that their role in weapon balance is very limited. To incentivize more accurate firing we are increasing the Head Damage multiplier.

Increased Head Damage multiplier from 1.8 to 2.1
Increased PP-19 Bizon weapon accuracy during ADS full auto firing
Decreased UMP45 Damage at longer ranges
Decreased UMP45 weapon accuracy during ADS full auto firing

Update #31 (Season 4 - Update 4.1)

Increased effective damage over distance for all SMGs.
Slightly increased damage multipliers for SMGs:
- Torso 1.05 (previously 1.0), Limb 1.3 (previously 1.25).

- Increased SMG limb shot damage from 120% of base damage to 125%.

Note: Since Bluehole doesn't release the official weapon values of guns, no website has 100% accurate statistics for weapons. Each website relies on hundreds of spreadsheets and each website has different numbers. Most websites recorded their data via private matches and some don't include the feet/range. No one knows if the tests were consistent when recording the data. In short, no one has the exact numbers, but this data is close to the real values.
