Churro Toffee Bugles combine two of my most popular recipes into one hugely addictive snack!

You guys – I’ve done it. I have created THE most addictive snack mix to end all snack mixes. This one is the winner, stop looking now.

Ever since creating my Butter Toffee Pretzels and Churro Bugles, you guys have been LOVING those recipes. And I mean, same – they’re both some of my fave snack mixes I have on my site. But I decided to get all Evil Genius and combine the two into one snack mix to rule them all.

CHURRO. TOFFEE. BUGLES.

I can barely contain my excitement!

Here’s the lowdown on how to make them (because you’re gonna want to Instacart the ingredients like, right now):

Churro Toffee Bugles

Churro Toffee Bugles combines two of my most popular recipes – Butter Toffee Pretzels and Churro Bugles. It all starts with Bugles chips, which I loved from my childhood and still hold up today. These are a delicious corn chip that holds up well to this recipe and provides the salty crunch to the snack mix. If you can’t find Bugles, you could use pretzel twists or another corn chip like Fritos.

Then you’ll make your toffee mixture, which is essentially butter and brown sugar boiled together on the stove until bubbly. You’ll add in some vanilla extract for flavor, and ground cinnamon which is part of the churro component.

Whisk the toffee mixture together and pour it evenly over the Bugles in the pan. I like using disposable roasting pans for making sticky snack mixes because it makes cleanup a breeze – but two rimmed baking sheets would work here as well! Toss the Bugles in the toffee mixture until they’re nice and evenly coated, and sprinkle on some Heath toffee bits – yep, the ones in the bag.

Bake for about 10 minutes to give the toffee a chance to set, then immediately pour on a cinnamon sugar mixture and more toffee bits and toss to coat. The cinnamon sugar and extra toffee bits will stick to the hot toffee Bugles and will give them that extra churro-y and toffee flavor!

FAQs for Churro Toffee Bugles

Can I make this in advance?Churro Toffee Bugles can be made a few days in advance and stored airtight at room temperature. Once made, they last about a week on the counter.

Can I substitute the Bugles?Yes, you can substitute the Bugles with pretzel twists or another corn chip, like Fritos.

What are Heath toffee bits?Heath toffee bits are broken up toffee pieces sold in the chocolate chip aisle of the grocery store. Heath makes TWO kinds – a chocolate covered toffee, and a regular “Bits o Brickle” kind. I recommend using the regular kind (NOT the chocolate covered kind). If you wanted to use the chocolate covered, I would use that at the end after baking.

Can I double the recipe? When making candy, I recommend making separate batches of toffee rather than doubling the recipe.

Can this be frozen?I do not recommend freezing this.

TheseChurro Toffee Bugles are seriously one of THE best things I have made on this blog, and I think you’ll quickly agree – sweet, salty, crunchy and SO addictive!

Cook Time10 minutes mins

Total Time35 minutes mins

Course: Dessert, Snack

Cuisine: American, Dessert

Servings: 10 cups

Ingredients

  • 10 cups Bugles chips (I used two 7.5oz bags)
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, lightly packed
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 3 tsp ground cinnamon, divided
  • 1 cup granulated white sugar
  • 1 bag Heath toffee baking bits

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350℉. Lightly grease 2 rimmed baking sheets or use a disposable roasting pan. Add the Bugles evenly among the pan(s) and set aside.

  • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and brown sugar. Bring to a boil and boil, stirring constantly, for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and whisk in the vanilla extract and one teaspoon of the ground cinnamon until combined.

  • Pour the hot toffee mixture evenly over the Bugles in the pan, immediately followed by HALF of the bag of toffee bits. Working quickly with a rubber spatula, toss the toffee mixture and the Bugles chips together so they get evenly coated.

  • Bake for 10 minutes. While they bake, stir together the remaining 2 tsp ground cinnamon and the granulated sugar in a small bowl. Set aside.

  • Remove the Bugles from the oven and immediately sprinkle with the remaining toffee bits and the cinnamon sugar, tossing to coat as you sprinkle. You really want to coat everything completely, so I like to liberally sprinkle, toss, and repeat until it is pretty saturated.

  • Let cool completely before breaking into pieces to serve.
