A Wondercat’s Guide to Flea & Tick Control for Pets + Home

Wondercide Guide to Cats (1)We know cats can be moresensitive than other pets, but at Wondercide, we understand exactly what they need to keep fleas and ticks at bay. Just follow these simple instructions made especially for our feline friends, and keep your cats happy.

We recommend the 4oz mister or wipesfor cats because they help better control theamount of solution used. The full size spray bottles can be used successfully if you're careful to not over apply. Some cats may be intimidated by the size and sound of the larger sprayers, whereas the 4oz mister can be held in your pocket and applied in a calm setting to ensure a stress-free experience. We recommend that you refill your 4oz mister with the larger bottles so you'll always have a supply of Wondercide handy.

WHY WONDERCIDE IS SAFE* FOR CATS

Wondercide Guide to Cats (2)WondercideFlea & Tick Control for Pets + Homeuses cat-safe* cedarwood oil, which is properly diluted. It is not known to be harmful to cats or kittens since it does not contain phenols or phenolic compounds, which occur in many essential oils. This is important because cats do not have the liver enzyme to detoxify phenols found in many essential oils; that's why essential oils have a bad rap among cat crowds. But rest assured, Wondercide products made with cedarwood oil are formulated to be cat-safe* and phenol-free. Independent lab tests verify our products don’t contain any phenolic compounds, so you can feel good about using ourFlea & Tick Controlon your cats.

FIRST, TEST FOR SENSITIVITY

Wondercide Guide to Cats (3)We recommend that you test any new product that you introduce to your pets. Before you apply WondercideFlea & Tick Control for Pets + Hometo your cat’s whole body, you should apply a small amount of solution to the back of his/her neck and wait 1 hour. If no signs of sensitivity occur, you can apply product to your cat’s whole body.

SPRAY & PLAY!™

Wondercide Guide to Cats (4)Rub your cat’s coat in the opposite direction of growth and lightly mist his/her body, belly, legs & tail. Do not soak your cat with the solution. Apply 2-3 times per week, or as needed. Safe* for daily use.

Note: If your cat already has fleas and you treat with WondercideFlea & Tick Control for Pets + Homebut see fleas return in a few days, you will need to treat the environment, not just the cat. Treat all surfaces inside your home, paying special attention to your cat's favorite hangout spots, like the couch, a shelf or their pet bed. When cats get fleas, they drop eggs and larvae everywhere they go, and those hatch into pupae and then adult fleas. This takes between 7 days and several months, depending on climate. The best way to get rid of fleas and eliminate the problem is to treat your pet's environment.

MY PET DOESN'T LIKE BEING SPRAYED, WHAT SHOULD I DO?

While not a physical reaction, some pets may be confused or stressed by having something unfamiliar sprayed on them. Read on for additional tips to help your pets enjoy their Wondercide treatments.

Always do your test spray. In addition to checking for signs of an allergy or sensitivity, testing a small amount of product on your pets prior to a full application gives them time to adjust to the new scent/sensation of the spray.

Go slow.Remember to be patient and build a positive association with the product. Some pets can be sensitive to change, so a new smell in the environment or on them can be stressful. For especiallysensitive pets, spray in the environment for a day or two before a full application to help acclimate.

Apply by hand.Applying the product with your hands by "petting" it into the coat, or while offering a favorite treat or toy, is helpful for pets who are afraid of spray bottles.

Apply before a walk. For dogs, try applying rightbefore heading out for a walk when they are already excited and in a positive state of mind. Many customers take this approach, as it helps their dog associate getting sprayed with something they love! Just remember to take it slow and give your pets time to adjust.

TREATING THE ENVIRONMENT

Wondercide Guide to Cats (5)As mentioned above, an effective way to prevent flea & tick infestations is totreat your indoor and outdoor environment. Since pests originate outdoors, you shouldtreat your outdoor space withFlea & Tick Control for Yard + Garden, where applicable.Flea & Tick Control for Pets + Homeshould be used indoors. Both products kill adult fleas and ticks, and prevent the egg life cycle from hatching.

Wondercide Guide to Cats (6)Reactions to WondercideFlea & Tick Spray for Pets + Homeare extremely rare, especially when a test spray is done prior to a full application. However, some pets may be sensitive and occasionally have reactions ranging from mild to moderate, generally as a result of over application or ingesting too much product. Additionally, the cedarwood oil used in Wondercide products provides a calming effect, which may be overwhelming to your pet's senses at first and display as lethargy.

Other behavioral responses could be hiding or not returning to their favorite sleeping places until the aroma has dissipated. With routine preventative use and our stress-free application approach, you and your pets will love using Wondercide.

Below are some behaviors that your pet could display if s/he is super sensitive. These are not a toxicity response, as WondercideFlea & Tick Spray for Pets + Homeis a plant-powered, phenol-free product. Any reactions should subside on their own within 24 hours. Please consult a veterinarian if signs do continue as this could indicate an underlying health issue.

  • Excessive vocalization
  • Foaming at the mouth/vomiting
  • Lack of Appetite
  • Erratic Behavior
  • Tremors
  • Excessive whining
  • Irritability
  • Lethargy

Though rare, allergies are possible even with plant-powered products. Peanuts, for example, are plant-powered and otherwise safe but can cause reactions in some individuals. Signs of a contact allergy/sensitivity could include:

  • Redness/irritation at the application site
  • Hives
  • Flaking or dry skin
