Private game (2024)

Private game (1)

Private Games are another awesome way to participate in games of Shell Shockers. Anyone can create a private game. Upon creating a private game, an invite code is shown to the creator of the private game which can be used to invite other players in case you don't want to play alone.

Private games can be used to create your own “scrims," ascompetitive leagues like Shell League do. You can also use this feature to create your own modified events. You can utilize other game modes if you like rather than what leagues such as Shell League does. Perhaps you could also just have fun with your friends if you'd like!

Creating a Private Game[]

Private game (2)

In the main menu, navigate to the "Private Games" option on the left side of the screen. Click the "Create" button. You will then be able to choose the game mode you desire, server u want, and map of your choice. While only some maps are in the map rotation for public games, all of them are available and free to be used in private games. It is currently impossible to make a public game.

Hosting Privileges[]

When you create a game, you are the host and have admin privileges. Host/admin privileges, currently, cannot to be transferred to another player. The host/admin privileges can include being able to boot players/members from your lobby. If the host leaves a game, the privilege of having a host does not get transferred and no one will receive the ability to boot players from your lobby.

To see special admin options, click on the player you want to mute/remove. Then you have two options: mute, which will prevent you from seeing their chat messages and their in-game name will be changed to a generated username; and boot, which will kick the player selected. After you have pressed “boot", that player will be kicked with a message on their screen saying, "You cannot join this game, you probably know why". They will not have the permission to rejoin. However, several exploits exist to rejoin a private game that you have been booted from.

If you leave the game as a host and then rejoin, you will no longer be the host so you won't be able to kick other people. The privilege does not go to another player. Instead, no one will be the admin, therefore no one will be able to kick other players.

Game Lock/Unlock[]

Private game (4)

The Lock/Unlock feature allows map hosts to lock and unlock the ability for players to join their private lobbies. When the host sends "/lock" in the in-game chat, the lobby is locked, preventing users from joining. The host can then send "/unlock" in chat to unlock the lobby, which removes the lock and allows players to join the private lobby.

Inviting People to a Game[]

This works in all games, private or public. When you're in the spawn menu of a game, click on the invite user button on the top right, click 'copy link' and send it to the person you would like to invite to the game. The code is a long series of numbers and letters at the end of the regular shell shockers URL.

Joining a Game[]

In the main menu, navigate to the "Private Games" option on the left side of the screen. Click the "Join" button. You will then see a pop-up titled 'Join game'. You then have to paste the game code you got from the host of the map, either only the code (eg. HJD92JA0K3M10), the code with the hashtag (eg. #HJD92JA0K3M10) or the entire game link (eg.https://shellshock.io/#RNSBIF2). Then you click 'confirm'. The game will then load you into the map, if there are any technological problems you can always email Blue Wizard Digital or just reload your page.

Private Server Settings[]

Private game (7)

In the 0.47.0 update you can now add custom settings to your private games. First, go create a private game on any map and on any server. Once your game loads, click on the blue button in the top left of your screen. This will then take you to your server settings page. Here you can lock your game meaning no one can join. It also introduces a new setting which prevents other players to switch teams manually or automatically as in the start of a new King of the coop round. On the right side you have access to more settings like Gravity. The Gravity settings can lower the severity of gravity and gives you a feeling like you’re in space. This lack of gravity is good for trickshots and introduces a new way to play with your friends. Damage multiplier increases the damage that you and your friends do. This can make a Free ranger feel like a rapid firing crackshot, or a Cluck 9mm feel like a eggk-47. Or your melee being a one shot killing machine without eggbreaker. Underneath Damage multiplier you can even edit everyone's health regen rate to increase to speed of how fast everyone's health regenerates. At the very bottom where it says weapons you can select what weapons you want to disable in your game, meaning no one can use these weapons. For example if you want to have a crackshot 1v1 or scrim you can disable all other weapons that aren't crackshot so your opponents cant cheat and sneakily switch to another weapon. You can select evry weapon too, if you want that players only use pistol and melee.
