Yes, SEO is still important in 2023. SEO is the practice of improving the ranking of a website on search engines like Google. This is important because it can help to increase the visibility of a website, and make it more likely that people will find and visit the website.
What is SEO?
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It’s been around for a long time now. There are many different factors that can influence a website’s ranking on search engines, and SEO is the process of optimizing these factors in order to improve the ranking of the website. Some of the key elements of SEO include the use of relevant keywords, the creation of high-quality content, and the optimization of website design and architecture. The better your SEO the higher ranking you might receive with search engines.
Top benefits of SEO
- It makes it easier for clients to find you
- It helps you rank better in local searches
- It supports your content marketing
- It can give you a competitive advantage
- It can help you reach more people
- It’s free (if you do it yourself)
- It can improve website usability
This isn’t an exhaustive list, but I’m sure you get the point. It’s worth defining what your main business goals are and your main objective, as well as narrowing down WHO your ideal client is.
Is it really that hard to write your own SEO?
REALLY GOOD SEO can be a little on the tricky side. But you can do it all yourself for free. Think about who you are, where you’re based, who your client is and what you are offering and you could be in a great starting position. Perhaps, try a Google search and see who your main competitors are. Check out what they might be doing that you aren’t. I am not saying copy their every move, but perhaps check out what others are doing or not doing.
Top SEO Trends for 2023
A few trends that are merging in the last few years, which are particularly relevant today, especially with more and more people using their smartphones;
- The increasing importance of mobile optimization
- The rise of voice search and how it will impact SEO
- The growing influence of artificial intelligence on SEO
Some final thoughts
I am NO EXPERT when it comes to SEO, I’m probably still making loads of mistakes, but I am trying and improving all the time. For a small business that’s my goal. You might want to employ an SEO expert, but they can cost money. However I am sure for the right business model they are probably worth every penny.
But, if you plan on doing it yourself. Do some research, maybe read a few tutorials. Check out these tips if you’re using WordPress. Resist the urge to include keywords that don’t naturally fit in with your website. Don’t push yourself as a wedding photographer if you don’t photograph weddings and have no wedding pictures on your website.
